While we often speak about the "invisible church"—the worldwide body of believers—God calls us to live out our faith in a tangible, local community. Joining a church is a public declaration that you belong to Christ and His people.
In a society where commitment is rare, church membership is a bold statement: “I am committed to this group of people, and they are committed to me. I am here to contribute, not just to consume.”
We often lean toward independence, but God designed us for community. Membership formalizes this by saying, “I am part of something bigger than myself—not just one of many attendees, but a vital member of a body.”
Membership means inviting others to encourage, challenge, and walk alongside you in your faith journey. It also means submitting to godly leadership (Hebrews 13:7) and committing to spiritual growth within a supportive community.
When you become a member, you allow pastors and elders to shepherd you more faithfully. They can better care for those committed to the church and invested in its mission.
At City Light Church, members make intentional promises—to pray, give, serve, attend worship, accept spiritual guidance, and seek unity, purity, and peace.
